Sport is a dynamic aspect of the co-curricular program at St Philomena School, in which self-control, respect, humility, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle are appreciated. St Philomena offers a range of sporting opportunities for students to foster their individual talents from Year 5-12 throughout the year.
St Philomena is in our third year of competing in the South West Metro Basketball Friday night league for our Secondary school boys, and for the Secondary Girls we participate in the Monday night Jimboomba Netball competition for U/18’s.
Students from 10-19 years can trial for Southern Scorpions district teams in a variety of sports every year. We are extremely proud of all the students who have been a part of local, state and national competitions.
During the year students also participate in the full school Cross Country, Athletics and 10-19 Years swimming carnivals. Age champions and house champion’s titles are awarded and students are then able to qualify for Southern Scorpions Carnivals. St Philomena currently have two sporting houses, Polding (Blue) and Chisholm (Green).
At the conclusion of the sporting year, the annual sports awards ceremony is held. These awards acknowledge the achievements of all students across the school with various awards ranging from:
· Age Champions
· Players of the year for Basketball and Netball
· State Representatives
